Water

The City of Chardon is proud to provide the City with safe, high quality and reliable potable water that meets or exceeds all federal and state drinking water requirements for our more than 2,000 customers. Our goal is to produce and distribute water for consumption and fire protection in the most efficient and cost-effective way.

If reporting a water or sewer emergency after 5 PM, please call the Municipal Center at 440-286-2600 (Option 1).

How Can I Pay My Bill?

Customers can pay their bill in one of four ways:

How Much Does Water Service Cost?

For a full breakdown of current Water Rates and regulations, consult Chapter 921 of the City's Codified Ordinances.

If you are elderly or disabled, you may qualify for the City's utility discount program by completing a Utility Discount Application.

Outside Water Meters

A second water meter for outside use only is permitted. There is a minimum monthly water bill on this meter plus the cost of any actual water usage.

Automated Meter Reading

The City has an automated meter reading system allowing water meters to be read remotely, without the need for City employees to visit your home or business each month.

How Can I Track My Usage?

Customer can track their water usage online using the City's Eye-On-Water Portal. Additionally, you can download the app on your phone from the App Store by searching for “eyeonwater”. Once downloaded, the directions for creating your account are similar to those on the backside of this letter. If you have multiple water/sewer accounts, you can add them to your email address after you have set up your first account by using the “link” option and entering the other account numbers.

What Happens If I Do Not Pay My Bill?

Non-payment or non-compliance with water rules and regulations will result in water service being shut off and penalty fees. The full balance of the bill must be paid before water service will be turned back on. If you have received a water shut off notice and need assistance, please contact the Utility Billing Department.

Other than for emergency situations, water service will only be turned on or off during City Hall business hours.

Is the Water Safe?

Yes! Water quality is monitored every day to ensure that it is clean, safe to drink, and safe to use for household needs. The EPA requires daily formal testing. Testing is performed by both the City's lab facilities and through certified outside laboratories.
