Trash & Recycling

Chardon offers curbside trash/recycling for residents through an exclusive single trash hauler contract. The contract is re-bid on a periodic basis to ensure our residents are receiving the best price possible. Two bins (green lid for refuse, yellow lid for recycling) are provided to each resident or business signing up for trash/recycling service.

Pickup

Please have your trash curbside by 6:00 AM on Tuesdays, approximately 3 feet away from the curb with the lid Opening facing the street. 

Recycling Pickup

Recycling is picked up every other week. Please review the Waste Management recycling schedule and associated map to learn your recycling week.

If possible, please put your recycling bin on the opposite side of your driveway from your trash bin.

Holiday Observance

On weeks where a holiday falls on a Monday or Tuesday trash and recycling service will be delayed by one day. Observed holidays include:

  • New Year's Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day (July 4th)
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas

Geauga County Collection Facility

The Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste District operates the Geauga Collection facility for items and materials not generally accepted in curbside disposal. This service is provided FREE to all County residents. 

The facility is located at 12685 Merritt Rd. Chardon, OH 44024 near the County Offices. For more information visit gottagogreen.org or call 330-675-2673.

  1. Fridays 10-3
  2. Selected Saturdays

On Fridays from 10 AM to 3 PM the facility accepts all of the following:

  • TVs
  • Computers and Electronics
  • Microwaves
  • Refrigerators (The District will remove the Freon)
  • Styrofoam
  • Batteries
  • Household Hazardous waste including:
    • Oil Based Paint
    • Gasoline
    • Auto Fluids
    • Cleaning Chemicals
